While the world is facing an era of turbulence and crisis, Cuba is also waging an unparalleled battle against slander and lies. Its people's cult of justice and the full dignity of the human being is the target of systematic attacks by its adversaries.

An example of the discrediting campaign, organized from Washington, is the distortion of the events that took place in the country during the summer of 2021.

A quick look around the world reveals interesting details on the subject, and clearly shows the manipulation and double standards by which these matters are measured.

In France, 1,278 people were prosecuted by the judicial authorities. Of these, 1,056 were sentenced, while another 600 individuals are being held in prisons following the recent "riots" that took place in that country.

As of July 6, more than 4,000 arrests had been recorded, and the average age of those arrested should not be overlooked: 17 years, according to the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.

"It was very important to give a firm and systematic response," said Justice Minister Éric Dupond-Moretti.

More than 95 % of the defendants have been convicted on charges ranging from vandalism, theft, arson to attacking police officers. During the "riots", the security forces had to deploy armored vehicles and helicopters in different cities, according to BBC.

Recall the police crackdown on Occupy Wall Street protesters in the US. Law enforcement officers used tear gas and rubber bullets; participants were charged with "criminal trespassing" and "trespassing," among other things.

Another example was what happened during the protest, labelled 25-S, in Spain. Although the organizers insisted on the peaceful nature of the demonstration, it ended with several police charges with batons and pepper spray.

In both Europe and the U.S., the events were termed as civil unrest.

Then, given how the facts are communicated, a paradox arises: if the incidents occur in Europe or the U.S., they are "riots"; if they happen in Cuba, we are dealing with a "civic protest against the regime". If the demonstrators are Europeans or Americans, they are rioters or violent criminals, to whom the law must be rigorously applied; if they are Cubans, they are "activists", "fighters for democracy", etc.

Despite the notable difference between what happened in the Cuba in July 2021 and the recent events in France, among other things due to the duration, the number of participants, the nature of the events and the response of the authorities, the application of justice by the Cuban State hit the headlines and even caused the approval of a twisted condemnatory resolution in the European Parliament.

However, in Cuba, for example, no helicopters or armored vehicles were used, let alone long weapons to restore order; no tear gas or water jets were used to contain those who threw Molotov cocktails, destroyed cars, looted stores and threw stones at institutions and people.

None of that can happen in Cuba. Neither the laws nor the citizens would allow such outrages; it only happens in the toxic ecosystem of fake media, in which truth and lies are confused at the whim of the spurious interests of those who still dream of inflicting a humiliating defeat on the Island of Liberty.
