Cuba will participate in the XIX Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement and the III South Summit, to be held in Uganda, with a delegation headed by the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and vice president of the Republic, Salvador Valdes Mesa.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Kampala, Valdés Mesa was received by the Minister of the Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda, and held a brief dialogue, in which the Cuban Vice President conveyed the "honor of being on this occasion in Uganda, representing Cuba in two events of great importance," according to the website of the Presidency.
In the social network x, he said that at the South Summit, the pro tempore presidency of the G77 and China will be handed over to Uganda.
Valdés Mesa also spoke with the Ugandan Vice-President, Jessica Alupo, and a Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of Compensated Trade was signed during the meeting.
The visit to the African nation will last until the 23rd, and then he will carry out official programs in Tanzania and Zimbabwe, Cubaminrex reported.
In Uganda, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla took part in the meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the NAM and in the preparatory meeting for the 19th Summit.
He also chaired the V Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, in which he proposed "to continue coordinating practical actions that contribute to stop the genocide against the brotherly Palestinian people, in flagrant violation of International Law and the UN Charter".
