The largest of the Antilles also reaffirms its commitment as a guarantor State in this important process for the South American sister nation.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, welcomed the Sixth Cycle of the Peace Dialogue Table between the delegations of the Government of Colombia and the National Liberation Army, which began on Monday, January 21st, in Havana.
Díaz-Canel wished that this new opportunity "will bring about new advances in the path of the brotherly Colombian people towards peace, which Cuba will continue to support," he said on the X social network.
Also, on behalf of Cuba, the member of the Political Bureau and Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, in welcoming the installation of the Table, ratified the commitment of the largest of the Antilles with the peace process in that sister nation.
The purpose of the sixth round of talks is to renew the bilateral ceasefire, which has been the longest signed to date, in force until the end of this month, specifically until January 29.
The fifth round was held last December, in Mexico, with the approval of six agreements that reinforce the will of the two parties to advance in the negotiations, which began last year.
There it was also agreed to suspend economic retentions, as part of the extension of the ceasefire, plus the creation of conditions to guarantee a post-conflict stage, said the office of the Colombian High Commissioner for Peace.
