A warm greeting was extended yesterday afternoon by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, to His Excellency Paulo Teixeira, Minister of State for Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA) of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
At the Palace of the Revolution, the Head of State said that "an intense work program is being developed, and this visit is one more expression of the satisfaction we feel for the high level of exchange and achievement of our bilateral relations."
Díaz-Canel commented that President Lula, to whom he sent an affectionate greeting, "has shown a tremendous willingness since he became President, to strengthen our relations, with a great sensitivity towards Cuba's problems."
In statements to the press, Paulo Teixeira expressed that "we are very happy because we have managed, in one year of President Lula's government, to mature 12 projects to be signed between Brazil and Cuba; and this shows the intensity of this relationship, in which on the one hand we have much to learn from Cuba, and we also bring many contributions."
Before the presidential press, he alluded to a high-level team, coming from his nation, whose work objectives have to do with agricultural technology and tropical agriculture; and in the same line of thought he spoke of experts in supply technology.
"There is interest from Brazilian businessmen to make investments in Cuba, and that is why this meeting with President Diaz-Canel was very positive", considered the Minister, who told about visits made to several farmers in the province of Matanzas, to agro-ecological experiences, to banana plantations, and to some supply centers.
"These are days of intense work, but also of great hope for Brazil and Cuba.
