As an expression of the excellent state of relations between the governments and peoples of Cuba and Grenada distinguished, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, the stay of the Prime Minister of the brotherly Caribbean country, Dickon Mitchell.
"We appreciate you as a young leader of Latin America and the Caribbean; we admire, respect and hold you in high esteem," said Díaz-Canel, as he received the visitor, held official talks, and then presided over the signing of several agreements.
He recalled his stay in Grenada in December 2022, which he described as unforgettable. "After that visit, we have given permanent follow-up to what was agreed then, to a group of issues in which progress has been made, and in others, expectations and decision to move forward are maintained," he informed.
The Cuban President also praised this year's celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.
We always "remember that ours are historic relations, founded by Fidel and Maurice Bishop", and added that there are "many reasons to feel very satisfied with the bilateral ties".
At the end of the official talks, several agreements were initialed, such as the memorandums of understanding for cooperation in environmental protection and exchange in education. A technical cooperation agreement was also signed in the aquaculture and fisheries sector, as well as another memorandum of understanding for cooperation in agriculture, livestock and food production, technical training and other areas of interest.
Before returning to his country, Dickon Mitchell and his delegation paid tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in the city of Santiago de Cuba, which houses the remains of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
