A joint declaration was approved by the foreign ministers of the Brics countries after the ministerial meeting held on Monday in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.
The document supports mediation proposals for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine through dialogue and diplomacy, the Indian Foreign Ministry website said.
Cuba's Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla headed the Cuban delegation that attended the meeting, held as an initiative of the Russian Presidency of the Brics, countries with which the island has historically maintained excellent bilateral relations and convergent positions on many issues of the multilateral agenda.
On Tuesday night, the Foreign Minister begins an official visit to Moscow, which includes meetings with his Russian counterpart, as well as with high-ranking officials of that country.
On June 10, during which he attended the meeting of Brics foreign ministers, he also met with Belarus Foreign Minister Sergey Aléinik, with whom he shared the progress achieved in many areas of bilateral relations, and to whom he expressed Cuba's willingness to continue expanding economic, trade and cooperation ties.
He also held a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, to whom he thanked the active role of his country to put an end to the Israeli genocide in Gaza, and the high coincidence with the island on the main issues of the international agenda.
