The support for the struggle against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, with overflowing displays of solidarity in cities of all latitudes; the worldwide rejection of the inclusion in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, and the profound and coherent presidency of the Group of 77 and China, further raised Cuba's prestige in its relations with the world.
In 2023, Cuba maintained diplomatic relations with 195 States, including 190 full members of the United Nations, another five (Palestine, the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, the Cook Islands, the Holy See and Niue) and 197 with the Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta, as well as with the European Union.
However much its enemies may have wanted to isolate it, the prestige of its work, par excellence human, reaffirms that Cuba is not alone. In its midst, it received 172 first-rate visits.
"It advanced in its foreign policy objectives and maintained its traditional activism and prestige in international and regional organizations and forums," the Cuban Foreign Ministry published on its website, referring to the political results last year.
"In the legal field, we signed 29 governmental agreements, with the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Honduras, Serbia, Russia, United Kingdom, Algeria, Namibia, Rwanda, Burundi, Iran, United Arab Emirates, the Saudi Fund, the French Development Agency and the European Union, covering issues relevant to the Cuban people and to the development of the nation," the Foreign Ministry stressed.
The visits of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba had high repercussions, especially in New York, a city where, in the middle of the streets, affection and respect for the largest of the Antilles and its Revolution were expressed.
"The support for the Palestinian cause and the struggle for a more just and equitable democratic world order, based on international law and the sovereign equality of States", constituted one more example of Cuba's position with respect to world peace and international law.
