The ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Cuba, Hua Xin, reaffirmed yesterday, in a press conference, the Asian nation's support to the Island “to help overcome the temporary difficulties caused by the blockade and sanctions,” and thus improve the welfare of the people.
At the same time, he rejected its inclusion in the alleged list of State sponsors of terrorism, and the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. He also expressed his gratitude for Cuba's firm position on the principle of One China, and condemned “external forces interfering in the internal affairs of my country.”
The diplomat stressed that his work in the largest of the Antilles will be developed in five strategic sectors, which he called “the 5-Cs: community of shared future, consensus, trust, communication and cooperation,” and highlighted the interest of the Asian giant in areas of the economy such as agriculture, renewable energies, tourism, communication, biomedicine and finance.
On the other hand, Hua Xin recalled the historical ties of the two nations, and stressed that Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, since September 1960, ties that transcend “under the care of successive leaders and joint cooperation in all areas of life.”
Hua Xin presented credentials as new ambassador on July 9, before the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
