Independent experts of the United Nations insisted to the U.S. Government on the exclusion of Cuba from the list of State sponsors of terrorism, and on the need to put an end to the prolonged blockade against the Island.
They also warned about the expansion of restrictions, deepening the country's international isolation for more than 62 years, all of which has brought with it additional economic and financial limitations, with adverse effects on the national capacity to meet the needs of its population, the UN website published.
More banned items, suspension of financial and technical assistance, opposition to the granting of international loans and threats of interruption of U.S. assistance to other States related to Cuba are part of the pressure mechanisms used.
The report was signed by Alena Douhan, Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures; Cecilia M. Bailliet, Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity; and George Katrougalos, Independent Expert on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order.
