Caracas.— "Now, then, the United States comes out to say that Venezuela has another President. The United States should get its nose out of Venezuela, because the sovereign people are the ones in charge in Venezuela, the ones who appoint, the ones who decide..."
This is how the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, responded this Thursday night to the statements made by Antony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State, in which he expressed his government's official recognition of Edmundo González Urrutia as the winner of the presidential elections.
With the communiqué, which assured that, "given the overwhelming evidence," the opponent Gonzalez "obtained the majority of the votes," the mask of an Administration that appeared to be cautious, but which is known to be the guardian of all destabilizing plans in the continent, falls.
"The process in Venezuela, legally, constitutionally and institutionally is still to be completed and the United States says it has the minutes and the evidence "because they are the CNE...," denounced Maduro in a televised appearance from the Miraflores Palace.
The Head of State informed that the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice admitted the Electoral Contentious Appeal filed by him.
Thus began the process of investigation and verification of the results of the electoral process, for which the ten candidates were summoned today before the highest court.
