OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE

In the recently concluded August, the Ministerial Summit on Artificial Intelligence was held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. Delegates from 18 Latin American countries, including Cuba, gathered there to analyze the issues of governance, ecosystem building and the promotion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The meeting is a follow-up to the work initiated at the first Ministerial Summit on AI Ethics in Chile in 2023.
The meeting recognized the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation in the digital field, and served as preparation for the United Nations Summit of the Future to be held in Montevideo, Uruguay, later this month, at which the Global Digital Pact is to be approved.
The Declaration approved in Cartagena included points related to the development of ecosystems for the deployment of artificial intelligence, for which the countries recognize the importance of cooperation. This should enable the development and deployment of this technological tool in an ethical, safe, inclusive, efficient and dynamic manner.
