The member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to Palestine, at a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in the framework of the high-level week of the General Assembly.
Speaking at the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Cuban Foreign Minister welcomed the early accession of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations (UN).
"We will continue to contribute to legitimate international efforts to put an end to the Israeli genocide in Palestine," he remarked, and in turn denounced the complicity of the United States and others with the Israeli offensive, which has caused more than 40,000 deaths, the destruction of a large part of homes, hospitals and civilian infrastructure, as well as the displacement of nearly 1.9 million people in Gaza.
Rodríguez Parrilla demanded guarantees for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, while recognizing the important work of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, known as Unrwa.
The NAM should insist on the demand for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, on the basis of the creation of two States, which would allow the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign State, within the pre-1967 borders, he urged.
In this regard, he confirmed the willingness to contribute as much as possible to the legitimate international efforts to put an end to the genocide, including Cuba's participation as a third state in South Africa's lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice.
