CARACAS, Venezuela - The despicable authors of the multiform war that is being developed against the Bolivarian Revolution insist on accusing of being anti-democratic the process for which this people has been betting on for 25 years. However, with only five days left in January, the Venezuelan legislative power slapped its detractors in the face.
At the beginning, this Sunday, of the first period of sessions of the National Assembly (NA) for the 2025-2026 cycle, after the election of the new Board of Directors, the first act of the Parliament was to summon the citizen Nicolás Maduro Moros for his swearing-in as constitutional President, next January 10.
Before the gaze of representatives of the different social sectors, the People's Power, justices of the peace and international guests from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Panama and the Dominican Republic, the highest legislative body of the nation raised, with democratic firmness, the flags of plurality.
After a year of construction and simultaneous battles against attempts to damage the institutionality, parliamentarians of the Bloque de la Patria and the opposition were kind enough to lead the country along the path of promoting peace, dialogue and respect.
In the last legislative period, the NA passed 17 laws, mainly aimed at the political development of Venezuela. Likewise, the electoral, judicial and citizen powers were renewed through the appointment of their highest representatives.
This stage, which began with the installation of its leadership, will also be an election year, since four popular consultations and two elections for public offices will be held. To this must be added the constitutional reform recently proposed by the President.
There is no doubt that participatory and protagonist democracy is the constant defended by the Revolution of Bolívar and Chávez. The majority of the people share and defend the collective effort, as a guarantee of self-determination.
The good people of this South American land have bet on peace and citizen tranquility, on "the indeclinable decision to be free forever, to be independent, sovereign", as assured by the reelected President of the Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez Gómez.
This was demonstrated by the harmony of the closing of the year, in spite of the threats of the extreme right wing of a bloody Christmas, and in this way the country is expected to continue, in spite of the blackmails of Edmundo González Urrutia, who insists that he will return before January 10.
The former candidate was reminded yesterday by Rodríguez Gómez that an arrest warrant has been issued against him, and at the same time he announced that he will request the decreeing of persons not welcome in the country to those interfering against national peace.
