Caracas, Venezuela -A hundred Cubans arrived in Bolivarian Venezuela: young people, parliamentarians, intellectuals, sportsmen, artists, peasants representing the civil society, to attend the World Anti-Fascist Festival for a New World, which since yesterday and until January 11 is being held in this city.
As a Cuban, for René González Barrios, director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, “it is a great honor to attend this meeting, while the ghost of fascism is once again haunting the planet, perhaps with greater cruelty than before”, at the same time that imperialism is raging against social processes that are committed to justice. He stated that these are times in which “not only the sovereignty of Venezuela, but of all peoples is being decided”.
Precisely in the installation of the event, the Executive Vice-President, Delcy Rodríguez emphasized that “in this hour of humanity we have to be firm to defend what is rightfully ours: the right to life”. In this regard, she referred to the “heroic and dignified” Cuba, formed in the Martí's ideology and with the guidance of Commander-in-Chief Fidel, for which it continues to illuminate the course of Latin America. The Island, with its “resistance has also nurtured this anti-fascist struggle,” she said.
For Fausto Ampudia, vice-president of the FEU, “it is a high responsibility to hear the Executive Vice-President of Venezuela say that here we will dig the grave of fascism”. He also assured that the repudiation of that ideology “will always be a premise” for the youth of the Antillean nation, as well as “the denunciation of the unjust blockade imposed by the Government of the United States and the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism. We were born anti-imperialists and we will continue to be so”, he affirmed.
The representation of the largest of the Antilles participated in the first day in the sectoral festivals, in which topics such as: women in the anti-fascist struggle; youth and students at the forefront of a multipolar world; social movements and the articulation of a global popular agenda were debated.
Trade unionists also had their space for exchange, as well as the native peoples, who addressed the confrontation with colonialism, while parliamentarians referred to the implementation of anti-fascist laws.
At the workshop of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, the president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto, made reference to the stark discourse of neo-liberalism to divert attention from those responsible for poverty and injustice.
About the Festival, he expressed that “the revolutionary and progressive forces must weave a network of contact to advance in a united front against the double burden that the peoples have today, who fight for a fairer world: fascism and imperialism”.
Meanwhile, scientist Melinda Sánchez Ramírez, member of the BioCubaFarma Business Group, remarked that Cubans “have noted the joy of the Venezuelan people” in view of the imminent swearing-in of their President. “Our side is against imperialism and in favor of the revolutionary peoples of the world”.
Similarly, the Hero of the Republic and president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Fernando González Llort, stressed that the Cuban delegation came to show its “support and backing to the Bolivarian people and Revolution, and to its legitimate president, Nicolás Maduro”.
Because in times of challenges and hopes, the brotherhood between both peoples flourishes more, part of the Cubans attending the Festival paid homage to Simón Bolívar at the National Pantheon Monument Complex and Mausoleum of the Liberator.
In commemoration of the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, a wreath was laid in the presence of Emilio Lozada García, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Party; Ana María Mari Machado, Vice President of the National Assembly of People's Power; Dagoberto Rodríguez Barrera, ambassador of the Island, and Yvan Gil Pinto, Venezuelan Foreign Minister.
A DOSE OF SHAME FOR THE FAR RIGHT
While delegations from all geographic areas of the planet manifested their support to the anti-fascist battle that the Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez is waging against the national and foreign far right wing, the leader of the opposition, María Corina Machado, called, as explained by the press, unsuccessfully to the people to the streets, only a few hours before the presidential swearing-in.
As the game did not turn out in her favor in the mobilization, and Venezuelans from all over the country came out in defense of the Head of State they elected in the last elections, the puppet of the empire and her entourage in the social networks created a media distraction maneuver. “The right wing sold the idea that María Corina had been attacked by motorcyclists of the “regime”. And by virtue of the failure of the hoax, they themselves came out to deny it”.
This was made known in Telegram by the head of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez. The publication contains a video in which Machado affirms: “I am fine, I am sure”.
To increase the dose of shame before the lies of right-wing extremism, the Minister of Interior, Peace and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, had revealed on Wednesday a plan to swear in Edmundo González Urrutia abroad.
In the computer of former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez, a document named “Urgent proposal for January 10, document of restricted circulation” was found. According to Cabello, the text proposes that González Urrutia “may be sworn in as president elect, take office and dictate acts of provisional government in a place other than Caracas”. The place chosen would be the Venezuelan diplomatic headquarters in an unspecified country.
Such action would be in violation of Article 231 of the Constitution, which decrees that the presidential inauguration shall take place before the National Assembly, within the country; as will happen at noon today, at the Federal Legislative Palace, when Nicolás Maduro will attend the call made by the Parliament to be sworn in for his 2025-2031 term of office.
