For those who accompanied Cuba in its struggle to be removed from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, the news is also cause for celebration.
Reacting to the announcement, Bolivian President Luis Arce declared that "reason, truth and justice have prevailed".
The Bolivian president reaffirmed, in X, that such action by the U.S. government constitutes a recognition of the sovereignty and the persistent battle of the Cuban people, and marks an important step towards the urgent elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
From the same nation, former President Evo Morales stressed that, despite the fact that the island was removed from the list, "the genocidal blockade against our sister Cuba still persists. We will continue in the struggle until it is completely lifted", he said in X.
In the same social network, Gustavo Petro, the Colombian head of state, stressed that "the U.S. has two ways of relating to Cuba. The U.S. has two ways of relating to Latin America, either dialoguing with diversity or imposing with force", for which reason, when reversing such measure, which affected the Caribbean country, he congratulated his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, for betting on dialogue.
In the letter, he contrasted the actions of the next president of the nation, Donald Trump, who is heading more to the extreme right and imposition, so he urged him, in his new mandate, to bet on "civilized understanding and an Americas composed of equal and free human beings".
At the same time, former Colombian president Ernesto Samper described the new measure as "a moral debt that Colombia had with Cuba since the Duque administration, when we ignored the efforts that the Cubans were making to help peace in Colombia".
The Bolivarian nation of Venezuela also celebrated the Cuban triumph, and highlighted that the Island "has historically been a victim of terrorism, not a promoter of it, and has demonstrated its commitment to peace and global solidarity, by mediating in conflicts and supporting the peoples of the world".
The ALBA-TCP member states also reaffirmed their commitment to the Revolution and saluted, by means of a communiqué, "this victorious step".
Meanwhile, those who want to see a defeated Cuba, regretted what happened. Such is the case of U.S. Congressmen Carlos Gimenez, Mario Diaz-Balart and Maria Elvira Salazar, who said they are looking forward to Trump reversing the decision, which they call "the ultimate betrayal of U.S. national security and the cause of freedom for the Cuban people."
