
The member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, was received - on his official visit to Vietnam - by the General Secretary of the Communist Party, To Lam.
"For Vietnam, solidarity, support and cooperation with Cuba is a moral responsibility, not only for the benefit of the two countries, but also an exemplary contribution to the progressive movement in the world," said the top party leader.
As reported by the Nhan Dan newspaper, To Lam expressed his confidence that the Caribbean island, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party, will continue to overcome difficulties and challenges.
He conveyed his wishes to continue realizing, in a positive way, the mechanisms and agreements reached by both parties, and the implementation of cooperation projects in the fields of food and energy production.
Rodriguez Parrilla commented that Cuba considers Vietnam a successful model in innovation and construction of socio-economic development with socialist orientation, and attaches great importance to cooperative relations between the two Parties, to strengthen bilateral ties.
He also highlighted the activities of Vietnamese enterprises in the country, after thanking the practical assistance of the Party, the State and the people of the Indochinese nation to Cuba in recent times, especially in agriculture and food security, among others.
The two sides reaffirmed their determination to further deepen the exemplary Vietnam-Cuba relationship, which was founded by Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, and has been cultivated by many generations of leaders and peoples of the two countries.
As part of the visit program, the Cuban foreign minister also met with President Luong Cuong, who said, "Vietnam stands in solidarity with Cuba to address its difficulties."
In turn, he expressed his satisfaction with the close coordination between the two countries' ministries and sectors in implementing the agreements of To Lam's State visit to Cuba last year; in particular, the new directions for bilateral cooperation, and stressed that the two sides should educate the younger generations about the 65-year history of the two nations' exemplary relationship.
Rodríguez Parrilla congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements, while reaffirming Cuba's willingness to continue exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation with Vietnam in all channels and sectors, thus contributing to the development of both nations, as well as peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.
Both Vietnamese leaders reaffirmed the gratitude of the Party, State and people for Cuba's selfless support during their most difficult moments, in the struggle for national liberation in the past.
