
A message of condolences from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, on the unfortunate death of the Founding Father of Namibia, Dr. Sam Nujoma, was delivered by the member of the Political Bureau and president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Anpp), Esteban Lazo Hernández, to Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, head of state of the sister nation.
The Namibian leader expressed his gratitude for the solidarity of the largest of the Antilles in these difficult moments for his people and, especially, for the presence in Windhoek -for the State Funeral- of a high-level Cuban delegation, composed, in addition, by José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party and head of its Agro-alimentary Department; and by the heroes of the Republic of Cuba, General of the Army Corps Joaquín Quintas Solá, Vice Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
The head of the Cuban Parliament had a dialogue with the elected president of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, current vice-president of the Republic and vice-president of the South West African People's Organization (Swapo), to whom he conveyed the congratulations of the General of the Army and the Cuban President for his election.
IT BEGINS THE VISIT TO ZIMBABWE
The President of the Annpp later began an official visit to Zimbabwe, as part of which he will hold talks with the highest authorities of the nation, and will participate in other activities for the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Previously, in transit through South Africa, Lazo Hernández spoke in Johannesburg with former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe; with Solly Mapaila, Secretary General of the Communist Party; and with Lefika Chetty, member of the Executive Committee of the Cuba Friendship Association in South Africa (Focus).
