The member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, affirmed that the region faces a complex scenario marked by the dangerous imperialist counteroffensive against our peoples, and the reactivation of the Monroe Doctrine.
In his speech at the Ministerial Meeting of the 9th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), he stressed the relevance of regional unity in the face of attempts to reconfigure geography, rewrite history and control areas of national sovereignty of countries of the continent.
In particular, he pointed out the importance of preserving CELAC as an ideal space for the reaffirmation of the Latin American and Caribbean identity and the defense of our common interests.
Likewise, he condemned the unjust and genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. more than 60 years ago on Cuba, and rejected the reinclusion of the Island in the list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
Regarding the recent U.S. offensive against Cuban medical collaboration, the Foreign Minister thanked the firm position of the leaders of several nations of the region, who have rejected the slander and reaffirmed their commitment to Cuban medical cooperation and the sovereign right of the States to freely establish health agreements for the benefit of their peoples.
