“Once again, justice is used with political motivations as an instrument of the right wing against progressive leaders of the region”, declared the Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in his account in x, after the announcement of the Supreme Court of Argentina to close the Vialidad Case and to make the sentence against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner firm.

We are witnessing what is, clearly, the new chapter of a well-worn maneuver, that of using causes or judicial processes to stop the leadership of the left.

Now, one of the most prominent figures of the Argentine political scene, representative of the popular and progressive sectors, has been sentenced to six years in prison, in addition to a lifetime disqualification from holding public office, which prevents -very opportunely for his adversaries- his candidacy for the legislative elections of next September.

The Supreme Court, whose decision was unanimous, in spite of having several options, chose to appeal to Article 280 of the National Code of Criminal Procedure, which establishes the power of that institution to reject, without further procedure, the extraordinary appeals that it considers “insubstantial or lacking in transcendence”, so that, in short, they reaffirmed the sentence, without even reading the file or substantiating their decision.

In the face of such a clear demonstration of partiality, with undeniable political undertones, there can be no silence; that is why the voice of the Cuban President, in the denunciation from Cuba, was joined by that of the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who in his account in x described the condemnation as “an act of cowardice”.

For his part, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs declared, on the same social network, that “the sentence against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is a clear act of revenge and threat”.

Meanwhile, thousands of Argentines who have accompanied her since the beginning of this judicial stratagem, today make clear their support to the leader of the Justicialist Party.

Another low blow to justice in our continent, another warning of the dangers that threaten the left, which resists and fights. Strength, Cristina, which is also another way of saying: Strength, Latin America!
