
HANOI.- Meetings with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Government Palace and with National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man at the parliament headquarters continued yesterday with the work agenda of the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in Vietnam.
After participating in the central ceremony and military parade for the 80th anniversary of the brotherly country's independence, the Head of State conveyed to both leaders, in each of the exchanges, his "congratulations on the magnificent event" he had witnessed.
A beautiful, patriotic event, he said, which showcased the beautiful Vietnamese traditions, the legacy of their independence, and the unity of their people around the Party, the State, and the Government.
Today we have experienced the deep revolutionary and socialist emotions of this people, emphasized Díaz-Canel, who also praised the tremendous support and commitment of the new generations to the political and social process of their country.
At the reception at the Government Palace, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who sent greetings to his Cuban counterpart Manuel Marrero Cruz and other authorities on the island, expressed his congratulations on the development and strengthening of bilateral collaboration in a wide range of fields, from agriculture to biotechnology, industry, and energy.
"I would like to reaffirm that Vietnam always appreciates Cuba's feelings toward our country, and we will always support the Cuban Revolution," emphasized the head of government, who also celebrated the recently held intergovernmental commission.
The Cuban President conveyed greetings from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, to Comrade Pham Minh Chinh.
He also made special mention of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation over the past year, following the visit to Cuba by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, and highlighted the economic and social successes of the brotherly country. Cubans, he said, also feel these achievements as our own.
IN THE VIETNAMESE PARLIAMENT
Díaz-Canel also held a warm meeting with comrade Tran Thanh Man, president of the National Assembly, "a long-time friend of Cuba," he said, whom he thanked "for all his personal contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relations," first as president of the Fatherland Front and now as leader of the Vietnamese Parliament.
The president conveyed warm greetings from Esteban Lazo, member of the Political Bureau and president of the National Assembly of People's Power, and extended an invitation for him to visit Cuba in his new capacity as head of Parliament.
"The 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day are particularly significant dates for us," the Vietnamese leader told Díaz-Canel, adding that the same is true of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, and that this is the Year of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship 2025 for us.
"On behalf of the leaders of the Party and the National Assembly," he added, "I sincerely thank you and the high-level Cuban delegation accompanying you for coming to celebrate with the Vietnamese people.
"We also thank and appreciate your participation in the solemn events that have been organized in Cuba to commemorate events that are very important to us, such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification, as well as other significant anniversaries, such as the 135th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh.
Tran Thanh Man thanked the Cuban people, through their President, for "their ongoing solidarity and sincere spiritual and material support that Cuba has provided to Vietnam throughout its history of struggle for liberation and reunification and its current national development."
Members of the Political Bureau, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, participated in the meeting with both Vietnamese leaders.
Also in attendance were Emilio Lozada García, head of the Central Committee's International Relations Department; Ministers Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Ydael Pérez Brito, Agriculture; and Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, ambassador to Vietnam.
