A sign of the historic relations of friendship, cooperation, solidarity, and affection between the peoples of Cuba and Angola was the fraternal exchange held at the National Capitol between Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, and Carolina Cerqueira, president of the National Assembly of Angola.
"This is an opportunity to exchange experiences and analyze what else we can do to expand cooperation for the benefit of our peoples. Your visit is of great importance to us; we are united by historical and truly fraternal ties. It also takes place at a time when we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Angola's independence and half a century of diplomatic relations between our countries," said the head of the Cuban Parliament.
He thanked Angola for its unwavering support for the lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States government against our country and for the immediate removal of Cuba from the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism.
For her part, Carolina Cerqueira remarked: "We take with us the examples of resilience, courage, and bravery of the Cuban people. We will strengthen the ties between both legislative bodies at all levels, in a spirit of multilateralism and parliamentary cooperation that will continue to achieve positive results in the activities of our national assemblies. You can count on our solidarity, forged in the struggle for Angola's independence and reinforced in the present through cooperation in various areas."
Both delegations signed interparliamentary cooperation agreements. In addition, the President of the National Assembly of Angola met with executives and scientists from the Finlay Vaccine Institute and laid a wreath in tribute to National Hero José Martí.
