Given the exclusion of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua from the upcoming Summit of the Americas, scheduled for December 4 and 5 in the Dominican Republic, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced yesterday that she will not attend the meeting, demonstrating her firm stance in defense of regional inclusion and respect.
Rejecting all forms of foreign interference and supporting the sovereignty of the nations in the area, she assured that, in accordance with Mexico's foreign policy, "We will never agree with the exclusion of any country," reported the newspaper La Jornada.
The Mexican president's voice of protest and support for dignity joins that of delegates from more than 35 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and other parts of the world, who on Sunday expressed their rejection of the exclusion of the three nations and, in reparation, called for a People's Summit in Santo Domingo.
