Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, yesterday expressed his gratitude to China for its support of the largest of the Antilles in the face of the sanctions and genocidal policy that the United States maintains against the Caribbean nation.

"We thank China for its unwavering support in the face of the U.S. blockade, which is suffocating the Cuban people and their economy. We know we can count on friends like you to continue denouncing this genocidal policy," he wrote on his X account.

Previously, China had rejected the United States' coercive tactics and pressure on other nations, stating that it strongly opposes the U.S. blockade and has voted in favor of the Cuban resolution in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly since 1992.

In response to a question from Prensa Latina, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said that the United States not only fails to reflect on its actions but also intensifies its policy of coercion, which violates international law, the basic principles of international relations, and humanitarian law.

He reiterated China's support for the Cuban people's right to choose their own path of development, defend their sovereignty, and reject external interference, and urged Washington to take concrete measures to improve its relations with Havana and contribute to peace and stability in the region.

For its part, the Venezuela-Cuba National Movement of Friendship and Mutual Solidarity also strongly rejected what it called pressure and fallacious arguments from the U.S. State Department on the issue of the blockade of the island.

A statement from the solidarity group denounced that these are exercised in a "cynical and recurrent manner," using tactics that border on "political and economic blackmail."

It emphasized that they are attempting to induce sovereign nations to betray their history and conscience, seeking to sway the vote at the UN against the criminal blockade of Cuba, which will take place on October 28th and 29th.
