Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.– "Our hearts and prayers are with the Cuban people, they are with you," assured Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of this nation, to the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, with whom he held a fruitful exchange on Thursday.
It is precisely through this entity that the Kingdom will send important aid to Cuba to contribute to the recovery from the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa in the eastern region of the country. This, as the general supervisor said, is a sign of "the respect and admiration we feel for Cuba."
In recognition of this gesture of solidarity and the significance of the historic relations between the two countries, the Head of Government sent a warm embrace and greetings from the Cuban people to the people of Saudi Arabia in statements to the press. "We are very distant geographically, but very close in our hearts and minds. We have cooperated in the international arena and have always expressed solidarity in both directions."
Marrero Cruz recalled that on Wednesday he was received by His Royal Highness Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom, who stated that "Saudi Arabia would support the recovery from the damage caused by the hurricane. The details for providing this aid have now been finalized.
"We thank the King, the Crown Prince, and this Center for all their solidarity and the material and financial support they are going to provide us," emphasized the Prime Minister, who shared with his hosts information on the preliminary effects of hurricane Melissa and the main needs for recovery.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, created in 2015, is dedicated to disaster management and has become one of the most important of its kind in the world, explained its General Supervisor, who also said he was "deeply moved to hear about the damage caused by the hurricane, which we have also been following closely."
He also recalled his visit to Cuba in 2012 and affirmed that the country has hard-working people. He added that this first visit by the head of government to the Arab nation "will mark a milestone in the strengthening of our relations."
Finally, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the sensitive work carried out by the Center, which "makes the Kingdom great, not only because they think about its development, but also because they think about the rest of humanity." He also said, "We are very moved by the affection and hospitality we have received. All the meetings we have had have been very fruitful."
