The Communist Party of Cuba condemns, in the strongest terms, the escalation of aggression by the fascist government of the United States against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its legitimate president Nicolás Maduro Moros.

The threatening deployment of Yankee imperialist military forces in the Caribbean Sea, in flagrant violation of international law and the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, confirms that government's intentions to impose again the Monroe Doctrine in our region and is clear evidence of its total disregard for the sovereignty and self-determination of our peoples.

The fallacious U.S. accusation of associating the Venezuelan government and its constitutionally elected president with criminal organizations linked to illicit drug trafficking; the recent assault and criminal seizure of a ship carrying Venezuelan oil by Washington's military forces; the total and complete blockade of oil tankers entering and leaving the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; and its arbitrary designation as an international terrorist organization, constitute dangerous actions, intentionally coordinated to justify the realization of Yankee interventionist and domination interests.

In this complex context for the homeland of Liberator Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez, and for the entire Latin American and Caribbean region, the Communist Party of Cuba reiterates its unwavering support and solidarity with the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), its national leadership and membership, as well as with the popular, military, and police alliance led by President Nicolás Maduro.

We call on left-wing and progressive parties, social movements, and political forces to mobilize and unite our voices in denouncing and demanding an end to the escalation of aggression by the U.S. government against Venezuela.

We are convinced that the unity, determination, and courage of the Venezuelan people and their leaders will overcome the vile neocolonialist ambitions of the White House, and we express, more strongly than ever, the words of our national hero, José Martí, from July 1881, which summarize the essence of our commitment to the Bolivarian nation: "Give me Venezuela to serve: it has in me a son."
