Yesterday in Venezuela, National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez announced that the Bolivarian government had decided—in a "unilateral gesture"—to release a significant number of Venezuelan and foreign citizens who were being held in the South American country.

According to Rodríguez, the release process, which is taking place "as of this moment," is being coordinated by various state institutions. He explained that the decision is part of a strategy to consolidate peaceful coexistence and prosperity in the Republic, regardless of the political, social, or religious leanings of those involved.

VENEZUELAN STREETS IN PERMANENT STRUGGLE

The Venezuelan streets are restless. In recent days, thousands of people have mobilized to denounce the war crimes perpetrated by imperialism against their homeland.

Various sectors of the youth gathered yesterday to demand the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, the first combatant, Cilia Flores, after their kidnapping by the United States on Saturday, January 3.

"The voice of the golden generation will be heard before the world. We will not allow foreign interests to stop the dreams of a people who decided to be free. United, we defend the legacy of Commander Chávez and the future of the homeland," said Nahum Fernández, secretary of Street Mobilization of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), through his social media accounts.

According to spokespersons, the mobilization also denounced the violation of international law following the recent military incursions. "The young people have decided to remain in the streets and continue the struggle permanently. We will not rest until we see the President and the First Lady back on Venezuelan soil," said representatives of the youth bloc.

For his part, Diosdado Cabello, Venezuela's Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security, and Peace, denounced before international public opinion that, during the attack against Venezuelan sovereignty, 85 containers housing essential medical supplies for hemodialysis treatment were destroyed, which the senior official described as an inhumane and criminal attack against the people.
