Hanoi, Vietnam.–Hours before the start of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which is already in session in this city, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang highlighted to the national and foreign press the significant progress and resilience of the Indochinese country, which stands out as an economic "bright spot" in the region, despite global challenges.
She underscored the historical significance of this Congress, which evaluates the achievements of 40 years of the Renovation (Doi Moi) process and charts the course for a new stage of development.
Among the most notable transformations, she highlighted the profound administrative reorganization undertaken, which simplifies the structure of the state by reducing the levels of government from three to two (provincial/city and communal) and consolidates the territorial map, reducing it to only 34 provinces and cities.
The goal, he said, is to simplify administrative procedures and bring the government closer to the people. This reform, together with greater decentralization, seeks to strengthen state efficiency.
Economically, Vietnam is showing robust dynamism. Despite a complex international context and severe natural disasters, the country closed 2025 with record exports—more than $900 billion—surpassed 20 million international tourists, and saw its gross domestic product (GDP) exceed the $510 billion threshold.
The Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister also emphasized the active diplomacy that has led Vietnam to establish relations with 190 countries.
She also acknowledged the invaluable support of the international community and, in particular, the more than 6.5 million Vietnamese abroad, whom she described as "an inseparable part of the entire nation" and considered key players in the preservation and dissemination of national culture.
He expressed his confidence that, with the significance of the Congress, the world will be able to better appreciate the achievements, stability, and promising future of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which is moving forward with unity and determination under the leadership of its Party.
