"Our people already know the cruelty behind the actions of the U.S. government and the viciousness with which it is capable of attacking us," stated Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, speaking through X, after the U.S. State Department announced effective sanctions this Thursday under the executive order signed on May 1st.
He asserted that both Cuba and the rest of the world understand that this hostile attitude constitutes "a unilateral aggression against a nation and a population whose only ambition is to live in peace, masters of their own destiny and without the pernicious interference of U.S. imperialism," he declared.
The president further stated that the economic sanctions announced this Thursday worsen the already difficult situation facing the country, "just as they strengthen our determination to defend the Homeland, the Revolution, and Socialism," he emphasized.
