Cuba and China have finalized details for the launching of direct flights between their two capitals, flying across the vast Pacific Ocean, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) reported.
Air China, the country’s leading airline, will undertake preparations for the Beijing-Havana route, an initiative that is expected to boost economic relations and promote cultural and personal exchanges, the CAAC detailed.
In addition, the two countries will expand air traffic rights and cooperation in civil aviation.
The planned route is scheduled to commence in September and has the advantages of shortening the travel time between the countries, currently requiring a stop-over in Europe or Canada.
Official figures indicate that the number of Chinese tourists to the island is steadily increasing.
