SANTA CLARA.— The good community work done in various places across the country should be multiplied and exceptions should become the rule, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, stated during the 14th Ordinary Session of the 11th Mandate Period of the Provincial Assembly of People´s Power in Villa Clara. If the essence of what Cuba is, is to be found here, in the local neighborhood, a place where the best of our roots and history lie, then that is where most work is needed to transform the country, placing human beings at the center, as actors and protagonists of everything we do, the member of the Political Bureau also explained.

He added that today integrated community work with families, schools and other stakeholders is more necessary than ever, an issue that should feature as part of the reports and accounts presented by delegates to their constituents, in order that everyone join in the effort to build the prosperous and sustainable socialism we dream of.

Díaz-Canel, deputy to the Cuban Parliament for the municipality of Santa Clara, expressed his confidence that we will be victorious in the new context in which our political and ideological work is unfolding, relying for this on the people, their intelligence, culture, history and values. In the presence of the highest authorities of the Party and government in this territory, Julio Lima Corzo and Jorgelina Pestana Mederos, respectively, the first vice president also said that local development is one means to encouraging the participatory government demanded by Cuba’s current reality, a task to be undertaken in a scientific manner, based on research and with the participation of the social sciences. In the afternoon, Díaz-Canel participated in the presentation of the communication strategy of the provincial government, with the participation of political, governmental, and administrative leaders and media representatives, the Association of Social Communicators and the Union of Journalists of Cuba.

In this regard, he noted the significance of this task in contributing to the dismantling of the alienation that our enemies seek to impose on us, against which there can be no information gaps, thus the need to respond with intelligence and creativity to the concerns and doubts of the population.

“Every news organization should have its own profile, none should resemble another”, the first vice president said, while stressing the role of digital media and social networks, as an option for young people born under these technologies who have different interests, requiring the development of more intelligent and attractive messages. We must reject the vulgarity and poor taste of certain cultural products and messages, Díaz-Canel emphasized, adding that this battle will be won thanks to Cuban wisdom.
