Members of the ten permanent commissions of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power will examine an extensive agenda when they meet from this Saturday until Monday at Havana’s Convention Center, as part of the activities prior to the Fifth Period of Ordinary Sessions of the Assembly, scheduled to begin Wednesday 15 July.

Many of the items to be discussed concern following up on matters previous analyzed, whilst others will evaluate the results of measures to control and audit entities and institutions according to their areas of focus, and reviewing the work of parliamentarians this year.

Deputies will also analyze the status of implementation of proposals from the population, with the participation of heads of Central Government agencies and other officials, who will inform them of the measures implemented, those in the process of implementation and any reasons that have prevented them providing an appropriate response.

Within the proposed agenda for the Fifth Period, the Commission on Economic Affairs will, among other things, analyze the implementation of the National Economic Plan and budget performance in the first half of the year, as well as the approval of the verdict to be submitted to the Assembly on the 2014 Budget report.

Meanwhile, jointly with other commissions - Industry, Construction and Energy and Services – they will consider the progress in the implementation of programs of production and marketing of building and housing materials and the granting of subsidies and bank loans.

The Commission on Industry, Construction and Energy plans to discuss the problems relating to the water resources system, tackling illegalities and social indiscipline in agencies in this field and the implementation of the recycling policy.

Meanwhile the Services Commission plans to consider operations in trade, gastronomy, services and the new forms of management, the transformations in transportation, the development of local initiatives as a source of tourism income and the country’s computerization process.

The commission, in conjunction with those on Youths, Children and Equal Rights of Women, Education, Culture, Science and Technology and Environment will review recreation centers and activities programmed for summer 2015.

The implementation of Law No. 115, on Maritime River and Lake Navigation, and its complementary legislation, including economic evaluation of the process of declaration of abandonment of ships and the sale of their components and cleaning of docks and bays, is one of the issues for the Commission on Constitutional and Legal Affairs; while the International Relations Commission will assess the international work of the National Assembly in the first half of the year.
