Santiago de Cuba.— Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, minister of Education, described 2015 as a year of progress, while also highlighting that much work still remains to be done, during an act commemorating Teacher’s Day, held in the city’s 28 de Enero Elementary-High School.
“Advances have been seen in teacher training, the professional development of teaching staff, work in the sphere of vocational education, further study opportunities, work with bodies from the State Central Administration and higher education entrance examinations.”
Speaking to Granma after the celebration, the Minister highlighted work with the family as key to these advances, given that areas which have seen the greatest progress have been those which have responded to the needs of the children, and schools that have focused on working with families and the community in general.
