From completing the Sierpe photovoltaic solar energy park, to the Garabato Theater renovation, or that of Genaro Melero Stadium in Jatibonico, the province's wide-ranging construction program is picking-up speed as the July 26 celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the Moncada assault draws near.
Teresita Romero Rodríguez, president of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, highlighted the value of the more than 3,000 works taken on by different bodies, including new projects, capital repairs, rehabilitation, and maintenance efforts which will all, in one way or another, positively impact the population's living conditions.
Speaking during a press conference, Romero cited a wide range of sectors as involved in different types of constructive activity, including culture, retail, restaurants, sanitary services, wi-fi internet access, street lighting, water distribution and sewer systems. The public health system is undertaking more than 77 renovation projects, and 11 pumping stations are receiving maintenance and repair to improve water distribution.
She noted that while the province has received some support from the national government, and neighboring provinces, the bulk of the work is being carried out by brigades and enterprises in Sancti Spíritus, without additional financial resources, working with attention to conservation, efficiency, and quality.
