SANTA CLARA. — As a result of heavy rain over the last few days in Villa Clara, as of 4:00 a.m. yesterday, May 28, a segment of the National Highway around kilometer 255 was closed to traffic, the provincial Civil Defense Council reported.
As a result of this measure, vehicles traveling from Havana toward the country’s eastern provinces, upon reaching the Ranchuelo bridge, must detour to Esperanza, and from there take the Central Highway to kilometer 270, where they can return to the National Highway.
Likewise, those traveling west, upon reaching kilometer 270, must detour to Santa Clara, where they can take the Central Highway to Esperanza, and then return to the National Highway.
Authorities from the Ministry of the Interior will remain at the site of the detour and redirect drivers, until water obstructing the highway subsides and the situation returns to normal.
