With the presence of Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, the official ceremony opening of the 2022 judicial year took place yesterday, a solemn event traditionally held in our country until the early 1970s, and which in 2019 was resumed in recognition of the important role of Cuba’s judicial system.
In his congratulatory remarks, Marrero Cruz referred to mechanisms established to facilitate collaboration between government and judicial institutions, and stressed that the responsibility, professionalism and precision with which these bodies conduct their work, sustains the confidence placed by society in the administration of justice.
He reaffirmed the commitment to continue strengthening these ties to support the welfare, tranquility and defense of our people, and emphasized that the court system constitutes an institutional strength for the country in our work building a socialist state of law and social justice.

Rubén Remigio Ferro, president of the People's Supreme Court, commented on the challenges presented by the implementation of the deep judicial and procedural reform stipulated in new laws recently approved by the National Assembly of People's Power; and addressed obstacles faced in confronting the pandemic, as well as the impact of the tightening of the blockade and subversive attacks.
