Santa Clara - More than 800 people, mostly young people and women, have found jobs in Villa Clara, thanks to the development of Job Fairs, which have taken place in all the municipalities of the territory, with the presence of a significant number of state and private economic actors.

Yamilé López Yanes, Deputy Director of Employment at the Provincial Directorate of Labor and Social Security, highlighted the acceptance that this option has had among the population, especially among those who were without a secure source of employment to support themselves and their families.

The Job Fairs, which take place on the third Friday of every month, are part of the actions developed in the country to promote access to quality jobs and reduce informality in the labor market, which is in line with the National Development Plan until 2030.

These allow, in a direct way and close to the places of residence, to make proposals for work and employment training courses, to disengaged people, especially those residing in neighborhoods in transformation, in addition to motivating others who perform informal activities to formalize their status.

"Most of those who have accessed work, through the fairs, have chosen to work in the state sector, although several also accepted proposals from the non-state sector, which already in the last activity had greater participation than on the first occasion," said Lopez Yanes.

Of the 420 people who took up new jobs, 237 are young people and 166 are women, many of whom have young children.

Also noteworthy is the possibility that many people have had to apply for training courses offered by various agencies, in order to qualify the unemployed in trades as diverse as tobacco twisters, security and protection agents, bank vault custodians or construction workers, among others, said López.
