In the midst of great efforts to strengthen economic and commercial relations with China, especially in the promotion of tourism, Cuba has established a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens with ordinary passports who wish to enter, transit, leave or stay in the territory, announced Juan Carlos García Granda, head of the island's tourism board.
At the closing of the 42nd International Tourism Fair (FitCuba 2024), he stressed that "both parties agree on the need to continue creating the conditions and a favorable environment to strengthen relations in multiple sectors, including tourism development".
In this regard, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Chinese citizens who wish to stay in the national territory for a period exceeding 90 days from the date of entry must apply for the appropriate visa.
Likewise, Chinese citizens who enter the country to work, study - including courses organized by official entities of both parties - reside, report or engage in activities other than those authorized for entry into the national territory, must apply for the appropriate visa before entering the island.
FITCUBA 2024, A SUCCESS FOR THE TOURISM SECTOR
FitCuba 2024 was a success and proved to be the right moment to showcase the renewal of Cuba's tourism product, the digitalization of processes to improve the customer experience, the expansion of renewable energy sources, the transformation of products with greater accessibility, respect for the environment and in line with the country's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
This was said by García Granda at the close of the event, which was attended by 1,537 foreign professionals, including 437 travel agents on familiarization visits.
He informed that the 43rd edition of the fair, to be held next year in Havana, will present Cuba's traditions as a product and will be dedicated to the People's Republic of China as guest of honor.
