Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, paid posthumous tribute, this Monday morning, to Reserve Major General Leonardo Ramón Andollo Valdés, whose ashes were exposed in the Veterans' Pantheon of the Colon Necropolis.
Upon arriving at the tribute site, Raúl shook hands with the relatives and then placed a rose in front of the cinerary urn of the outstanding revolutionary, who died last Friday in Havana at the age of 78.
Minutes later, the Army General, accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Brigadier General José Amado Ricardo Guerra, led the first guard of honor to the man who devoted his life to the defense of the Revolution from different scenarios and responsibilities.
After this solemn tribute, followed another more intimate one, that of his relatives, who bid farewell to the husband, the father, the brother, the worthy man, whose merits indissolubly linked him to the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), where he served, among other functions, as Second Chief of the General Staff and Chief of the Directorate of Operations.
At this moment of homage, Raúl reiterated his heartfelt condolences to the loved ones present and took a seat next to them to talk about the remarkable career of General Andollo, committed, in recent times, with important tasks entrusted by the Government of the Republic.
And as part of the posthumous tribute, five floral offerings on behalf of the General of the Army, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the FAR, the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution and the family, symbol of the mark left by General Andollo, an example of dedication and loyalty, always at the service of his country, also stood out there, guarding the small urn.
