The celebrated brands Cohiba and Partagás will be spotlighted during the upcoming 20th Habano Festival, an event dedicated to the world's best premium, hand-rolled cigars, set to take place in Havana, February 26 through March 2, 2018, organizers announced.

Daymi Difurniao, from the marketing office at Habanos S.A company, the Festival's sponsor, told Granma International that Cohiba, the country's flagship elite brand,

will present its first Reserva, Cosecha 2014; while Partagás, with its Maduro line - well-received when it was launched in 2015 - will present two new vitolas.

He explained that the 20th Festival will again feature many of the activities that have won the annual gathering notoriety, and regular attendees enjoy, including visits to outstanding tobacco plantations in the Vuelta Abajo region, in the western province of Pinar del Río; tours of the capital's most famous cigar factories; a commercial fair; a cigar rolling master class; a formal welcoming night; and the final gala dinner.

Also to be included is an international seminar with attractive lectures and practical sessions; the international sommelier competition, in which experienced specialists propose unique pairings of cigars with different spirits and dishes; as well as the first Habanos World Challenge, during which competitors will test their general knowledge about one of the products most closely linked to Cuba internationally.

The 20th Habano Festival will conclude the evening of March 2 with a gala dinner event full of passion for cigars, featuring the traditional auction of humidors created by distinguished artisans, with proceeds going to the Cuban public health system.

Likewise announced by Habanos, S.A. was the successful launching this month of the Hoyo de Monterrey brand's Petit Belicoso cigar, during the 31st edition of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) Exhibition in the French city of Cannes.

The Petit Belicoso is destined exclusively for the duty free and travel retail markets. The brand does not have a cigar with these dimensions (52 x 125mm) in its regular portfolio. It was exhibited with a special, limited edition travel humidor, making it a premium, exclusive product.

The Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Belicoso is preferred by those who like to enjoy large ring gauge cigars for a short period of time.

Leaves used in the brand's cigars are grown in the fertile lands along the river which flows through the municipality of San Juan y Martínez, in Pinar del Río, where the world's best tobacco is cultivated. The mild flavor of its filling is an attractive option for those who prefer a more delicate, aromatic cigar.

Habanos S.A also presented some of the most popular products launched in 2017, for the consideration of participants at the Cannes fair, along with a selection of outstanding cigars from a variety of manufacturers.

The company is a world leader in sales of premium cigars, both in Cuba and around the world, with a network of exclusive distributors in more than 150 countries on five continents, offering 27 premium brands protected by designation of origin certification, including - in addition to Cohiba, Partagás and Hoyo de Monterrey - Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta and H. Upmann, among others.
