
Grand Master Leinier Domínguez competed in the last round of the Chess Grand Prix, held in the Russian city of Khanty-Mansiysk, during which he accumulated six points over the 11 days of competition.
With white pieces the Cuban (2734) secured a tie against Alexander Grischuk (2780) in 34 moves of a Sicilian Defense: the quickest game of the tournament on May 26.The remaining matches also ended in ties, except for Peter Svidler-Baadur Jobava, with the former triumphing.
The Cuban finished in twelfth place overall, adding 8.6 points to his ELO score (currently 2746).
Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura won the tournament which also served as a qualifier for the world title, in which Viswanathan Anand has already secured a place.
