Ciego de Avila.— On April 17, the fierce and unstoppable Tigres of Ciego de Avila secured their second consecutive championship title, after defeating the Pinar del Río team in the seventh game of the grand final of the 55th National Baseball Series.
This is Ciego de Avila’s third championship victory, winning in 2012, 2015 and 2016. “Before going out, we told the guys to given their heart, soul and life out there on the field, to play as though it were the last game of their lives, without any individualism, and to feel as though they were better than Pinar del Río. And true to form, they put on a spectacular show,” stated an excited Roger Machado, team manager.
The Pinar del Río team – worthy finalists and hard fighters to beat - received an enormousovation from fans. “We congratulate Ciego on a great win, we are content with our performance…” stated Pinar player, Donal Duarte.
