After the ashes of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, were transported from Havana to the east of the country in a funeral procession, which saw the Cuban people come out in force to bid a final and moving farewell to the Comandante, his remains arrived to the heroic city of Santiago de Cuba, after retracing in reverse the route taken by the Caravan of Liberty of January 1959.

Following the mass tribute held yesterday, December 3, in Santiago’s Plaza Mayor General Antonio Maceo and the funeral procession around various emblematic sites across the city, the ashes of the Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, will be deposited in their final resting place this Sunday December 4.

The solemn and private family ceremony will be held in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery in the city of Santiago de Cuba, declared a National Monument given its historic, architectural and cultural value.

The service will also be attended by specially invited guests.
