
On Monday afternoon, Army General Raul Castro Ruz received the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Army General Nikolai P. Patrushev, who is making a working visit to our country.
During the meeting, the excellent state of relations and the high level of political dialogue between the two nations were noted, and there was agreement on the willingness to continue expanding bilateral relations.
Raúl was accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and Minister of the Interior, Major General Lázaro Alberto Alvarez Casas, as well as by other heads of the Ministry of the Interior.
Also present from the Russian side were Victor V. Koronelli, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Cuba, and other members of the visiting delegation.
RUSSIA AND CUBA, AN INTENSE DIALOGUE
The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation was also received by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who welcomed him in the Hall of the Proceres of the Palace of the Revolution.
Nikolai P. Patrushev arrived in the Greater of the Antilles as part of an itinerary he will develop in Latin America. Díaz-Canel thanked him for including Cuba in this tour, and expressed that "it is a pleasure to receive him in our country", and stressed that he was "accompanied by representatives of an important group of sectors of the Russian Federation, which are the most active in bilateral relations and Russian-Cuban cooperation".
In the dialogue, the Cuban President said that "important steps have been taken in our bilateral relations; there is an excellent state of political-diplomatic dialogue, and this continues to expand". He commented that his visit shows that the closeness between both countries continues to be strengthened, and we also find -he affirmed- that progress is being made in many sectors of bilateral relations.
The First Secretary of the Party, who was accompanied by Major General Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas, Minister of the Interior, asked the visitor to bring "a fraternal and warm greeting to our friend, President Putin".
Nikolai Patrushev - who had already been to Cuba, and who in 2019 and in 2023 was received by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and by President Díaz-Canel - yesterday extended his gratitude to his host, "for the time you have dedicated to our delegation". He assured that he will convey to President Putin what was expressed by the Cuban dignitary, while being an emissary of the best will of the Russian leader towards the Caribbean country and its President: "There is a very intense dialogue between Russia and Cuba, in different areas," he said.
