The top priority Cuba attaches to ties with Vietnam was ratified Thursday by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex), Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, and Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Minister of Construction of the Asian nation, at the opening of the 11th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Collaboration.
On the first day of the forum -which will last until April 15- Cabrisas Ruiz thanked the understanding and sustained support of the Vietnamese Party and Government in recent years, in which the island has faced a complex economic situation, which "shows the historical ties of brotherhood, friendship and solidarity that unite both nations".
The leader of the land of Ho Chi Minh recognized that the two countries managed to maintain a fair exchange since the beginning of bilateral relations, more than 60 years ago, and reiterated the support of his government and enterprises to be present in the Program for economic and social development of Cuba until 2030, in key activities.
Both heads of delegations commented on the possibility of working together to boost bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector, energy, biotechnology and tourism, among others.
The exchanges -which will take place in person, after having taken place only virtually in previous years- will conclude with the signing of a protocol that will include several agreements to be implemented in the short, medium and long term.
