This weekend, while Israel and the United States put their troops on high alert in the Middle East, Iran announced retaliation against Tel Aviv for its military actions against the Persian nation.
Days before, Israeli aircraft violated Syrian territory and bombed the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, resulting in 16 deaths, among them high-ranking military officials from Tehran.
This was not the first time that the Zionist regime of Benjamin Netanyahu, in complicity with the United States, attacked Iran, which this time resorted to Article 51 of the UN Charter, on self-defense, and reacted by sending drones and rockets against Israeli military facilities.
The main target of the Iranian military response was the Nevatim air base, south of occupied Palestine, which, according to some media, was hit and "put out of service".
According to the Arab channel Al Mayadeen, it is the most important facility of the Israeli army, home of the new f-35 planes that the Zionist air force acquired from the United States, and it was used as the starting point for the April 1st attack against the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.
Alongside the Iranian actions, the Lebanese Hezbollah movement also bombarded northern Israel with rockets, and Yemen's Houthis launched missiles. In addition, Shiite insurgent groups affiliated to the Islamic Resistance of Iraq attacked with dozens of rockets, reported Press TV, quoted by Sputnik.
Yesterday, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, affirmed that the Iranian operation against Israel had ended, but his Armed Forces "are on alert and will act if necessary".
Following the Persian military response, U.S. President Joe Biden expressed his government's commitment to Israel, and said that U.S. forces had shot down most of the drones and missiles launched by Iran.
Meanwhile, the Republican Donald Trump, in addition to giving full support to Israel, took advantage of an election rally in the state of Pennsylvania to lash out against Biden, of whom, he said, "is guilty" of everything that is happening in the Middle East; that none of this would have happened with him as President.
For his part, UN Secretary General António Guterres condemned the serious escalation in the conflict, and called on all parties to act with maximum restraint.
In Europe, several names lined up in favor of Israel, among them Josep Borrel, on behalf of the European Union, and others such as the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak.
Meanwhile, the President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, on the occasion of her pro tempore presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), offered the United Nations the support required to activate all the necessary mechanisms and avoid a new war in the Middle East, the consequences of which would be unpredictable.
"All Latin American and Caribbean countries have declared ourselves a zone of peace. By respecting international law, for the sake of peace and security, we can save humanity," commented Castro, on his social network X account.
