In an atmosphere of exchange of policies, positions, mechanisms, experiences, intentions and, above all, opportunities, the U.S.-Cuba Agricultural Conference is taking place in its 5th edition, which began on Monday at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
The Minister of Agriculture (Minag) on the island, Ydael Pérez Brito, attended this meeting, designed to promote bilateral trade relations, which was also attended by farmers, cooperatives, Cuban MSMEs, NGOs, and representatives of the agricultural sector from all regions of the United States and entrepreneurs.
The president of the Agricultural Business Group, Orlando Linares Morell, explained Cuba's current situation, negatively impacted by the increase in global food prices and the sanctions imposed by the U.S. with the criminal blockade and the inclusion in the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism; coercive measures that force us to "work in the midst of greater complexities and challenges, which have a direct impact on the productive decline of our agricultural sector".
The president of the U.S. consulting firm Focus Cuba, Paul Johnson, pointed out that the event seeks to solve common problems and improve bilateral relations.
