Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the procedure for compensating damages to Russia and the country's Central Bank for the US measures.
Thus, the president ordered to establish a special procedure to compensate for the damages caused to Moscow by "hostile actions" of Washington, reads the text quoted by Russia Today, adding that these sanctions were taken by the White House under the argument of the invasion of Ukraine.
The rule allows making use of movable and immovable property of US authorities, companies and citizens located on the territory of Russia, as well as the value of their property, shares in Russian companies and other property rights in the Eurasian country.
Now the Government Commission for the Control of Foreign Investments will be able to provide the Russian judiciary with a list of US properties which, "taking into account the principle of proportionality", can be used to "compensate for the damage caused" by Washington's coercive measures.
The Presidential Decree "provides for the termination of US property rights, or those of a US person" and their subsequent transfer to the authorities of the Russian Federation, RT reported.
