As part of the work program developed in Moscow by the delegation headed by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, meetings have been held with parliamentary leaders and business organizations linked to cooperation with the Russian Federation.
"The readiness of Moscow and Havana to build and strengthen relations in the widest range of areas" was confirmed in the meeting held by Cabrisas Ruiz with the vice president of the Russian Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev, who assured that Cuba will continue to count on Russian parliamentary support.
He also recognized the importance of Cuba's participation in the St. Petersburg-2024 International Economic Forum and in other events in the sports, cultural and scientific fields, which will be held soon in this country.
The Cuban Deputy Prime Minister thanked the traditional support of the Russian Federation, and recalled the main agreements reached in recent months to strengthen the alliance, and referred to the particularities of the moment in which both countries are living, in which the relevance of strengthening bilateral ties is reinforced.
These issues were also discussed in a friendly meeting with Ivan Mielnikov, First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Communist Party, with whom they also discussed the recent inter-parliamentary exchanges which were chaired, on the Cuban side, by the Vice-President of the National Assembly of People's Power, Ana Maria Mari Machado.
The Cuban delegation also held talks with leaders and executives of Russian entities and companies linked to key sectors in the bilateral relationship, such as the sugar agro-industry, transportation, food production and tourism, in which the main actions being carried out jointly were analyzed and agreements were adopted for their continuity.
These meetings ratified the existence of mutually beneficial business opportunities for both countries in the current circumstances.
The Vice Prime Minister insisted on the importance of moving forward with agility and without improvisations, in order to achieve the concretion of the defined purposes and the materialization of joint projects.
